Artists and scientists both seek truths in the world, keenly observe with the senses, explore new territory, generate new tools and techniques, build on past work, and above all, make use of creativity.  With every day, more and more new endeavors are emerging to re-integrate the artificial art-science divide.

At AS IF Center, we are rebuilding these cross-disciplinary connections while keeping a balance between the two cultures. As artists, it’s important that we do more than just serve science, and that we can follow our own creative paths.  And as scientists, it’s important we maintain accuracy and critical thinking when conducting, and communicating about, science.

AS IF is a center where art+science symbiosis can happen on a regular basis.
